Respondus Lockdown Browser Overview
Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Elentra, preventing you from accessing other resources and applications on your device while you are taking an exam. For more information, please see the Respondus LockDown Browser website.
Learner Respondus Setup
Learners should download the appropriate version of Respondus LockDown Browser for their operating system BEFORE the exam. This can make the exam taking experience smoother for everyone.
- Windows - Student Edition (requires admin rights): Download
- Windows - Lab Edition (does not require admin rights): Download
- Windows - Lab Edition (MSI installer for managed installs): Download
- macOS - Student and Lab use: Download
Once downloaded, open the file to run the installer. Once installed, click here to launch the test page, to ensure there are no issues with your installation.
Caution: Elentra is not compatible with the Respondus Lockdown Browser app for iPad. Please use one of the Windows or MacOS versions linked above.
Taking an Exam in Elentra with Respondus
Access the exam from a Learning Event or from the Exams tab. On an exam with the Respondus security option enabled, you will see a set of instructions to use the LockDown Browser. Download and install the version of the browser for your platform if not already up-to-date.
Use the "Start New Attempt" button to start the exam. It will start Respondus LockDown Browser and the exam will start.
Note: You will be required to log into Elentra upon launching Respondus LockDown Browser. Have your username and password available, because you will not be able to access password keeping apps from within the LockDown Browser.
